Literacy - using adjectives

30/1/2015

Today during our literacy lesson, we have been recapping how to use a variety of adjectives to add more description to our writing and help the reader create a picture in their head.

We began by drawing the object Mr Henderson told us E.g. Chair, then we drew a second picture of the chair once Mr Henderson had included more adjectives.

Then, we created a mind map of nouns and we had to expand them by adding adjectives to each one without repeating them.

This week, my maths group have been making data and creating graphs. We begun by making a grouped data tally chart. Afterwards we made a frequency bar chart. Finally we converted the information into percentages and then displayed the information as a pie chart. To do that, we needed to convert the percentage into a decimal and then multiply by 360 to work out how many degrees each section was.

Today, we pretended we were in the 1940´s during World War 2. We had to imagine we were in a battle field and needed to send a message to someone else on the other side of the field. We discussed different ways we could do this and realised we could not send a text message or use our smart phones to do it.

Following this, we looked at semaphore messages send using coloured flags. We used the picture below to try to send messages to our partners in the playground.
