If you have any comments or suggestions, please do that by clicking 'add a comment/view comments' My literacy group have been working with songs over the past few weeks. We have looked at artists like Bob Dylan and The Beetles and discussed the hidden messages in their songs. We have researched the 60's and matched the events at the time with the songs. Today, we were looking at the metaphors written in the song 'A hard rain's a-gonna fall' by Bob Dylan. Each group then picked a line from the song and created two pictures. The first picture was what the song represented (the metaphor) and the second picture was as if they had taken the line literally. Group 1 - lyric: A hard rain's a-gonna fall Group 2 - lyric: I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin' Group 3 - lyric: I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow Group 4 - lyric: Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley
Pupils have to work out how many teams in the world cup are from each continent and write them as a fraction in its simplest form and as a decimal to 2dp.
To help us improve our use of adjectives, we were in teams and took it in turns to look at a picture of a monster and had to describe it to the rest of our team. They then had to try and draw the picture we were describing.
Today, to celebrate the start of the World Cup this week, we worked out how many hours of football were played during the group stage.
We worked out 1 football match would take 1.5hrs so 2 matches would take 3hrs and so on. We worked in pairs to create silly sentences using a variety of word classes. We started off with the red game and moved onto the challenging green game. Have a go at playing this game at home with someone and see what sentences you create! Comment on this blog with your sentences.
In preparation for our KS2 school show - 'Stories of summer', we have been learning our lines, practising our two songs and stage directions. Below is the whole KS2 song we are singing. This week we have been learning about Sound. We have learnt:
