During our ´Art week´ we looked at the differences between street art and graffiti. We looked at how Banksy uses stencils and templates to create images in public places.
We have made some of our own art based around four themes:.
Here is the display we made using the artwork This week, we have painted a mural near the entrance of the school using Banksy as our inspiration. We planned out what we wanted to do, cut out a stencil and used spray paints to paint the wall.
Today we began our Art week! Our class has chosen to study street art and focus on the street artist 'Banksy'. We looked at his work and how he creates his pieces.

Today we began making our stop animation videos. We designed our sets and are moving figurines and taking lots of pictures to make them look like they are moving.
Before making our stop animations, we need to plan and write our stories. We worked in groups to write down all our ideas and then picked the best idea. Afterwards, we begun planning the 5 parts of our story
Today, we have begin planning our stop animation projects set in a fantasy setting. We also learned how to create a simple stop animation video.

Year 5 have spent the day in the trees acting like monkeys all day today!
The whole of Year 5 went to ´Aventura Sevilla´ (A high ropes course in the woods) and took part in some swinging and climbing fun. They worked as a team and helped each other get around the course and had to responsibly make their way around the different sections safely. We all had a great time! Year 5H along with the rest of KS1, KS2 and KS3 enjoyed some shows performed in English by the company ´Face2Face´ who are based in Madrid. Adam and Ellen did a great job and pupils really enjoyed the show!

This week, we learnt how green screens work. We stood in the booth and spoke about the weather using a blank green screen, however, the screen automatically made it look like there was a map behind us!
To kick off our new topic, we have been making characters from Education City to put on our board. We then made speech bubbles of different things we need to remember in literacy.
To celebrate the end of our ´World War Two´ topic, we had a VE Day party. We made bunting, hats and flags and ate jam sandwiches and played various games from the 1940´s.

This week we have been turning a book into a playscript. We worked in small groups and practised using playscript features to turn ´The Tunnel´ into a playscript.
We were given a crate of oranges from Mrs Sabanowski and had to estimate how big the orange tree was, how heavy the wheelbarrow was and how much orange juice we could make from the oranges. We then juiced the oranges to work out how much we made.
From one crate, we made 3.65 liters of orange juice. |
