Today, we began to learn about China as part of our theme week. We looked at where China is in relation to Spain and compared what we could see on a map. Today, we had our school book day. We all dressed up as a character from a book to celebrate and Liz Million, an author and illustrator from England, came to work with us. For more information on Liz, please visit her website by clicking the link below: During the day, we read some of 'The Lottie Project', had an assembly with Liz, practised drawing some animals and then worked with Liz in the afternoon on drawing people. Have a look at all of Year 5's drawings below! AnimalsFacesToday, we were given an investigation to complete about a package. We had to work out the weight to three decimal places. We worked in groups to figure out how to complete the challenge. Once we had the answer correct, we practised placing numbers on a number line using three decimal places.
During literacy today, we researched the facts and opinions of GM foods and begun to create a balanced argument.
This morning we have begun making our own junk shadow art. We have used a variety of materials to create different shapes suitable for our design
Today, Mr Henderson took us outside for our PE lesson. We were in groups and we practised some throwing and running activities.
This week, we have been learning about Picasso's cubism technique. We have created pictures using his style and used shading and colour mixing techniques too. The pictures below have been created using water colours, pencil and coloured pencils.
Today, we used thermometers to record the temperature of hot and cold water. We estimated the temperatures, then measured them and discussed the differences in our results. We also used a computerised thermometer to see if it was more accurate.
